The inspiration struck when founder Rasmine Clifton, during a boat trip, was unexpectedly greeted by the majestic sight of a surfacing whale. This encounter directly sparked the creation of the Vintage/Retro whale graphics featured across the collection.
The name “Oceana”—meaning ‘the world of the oceans’—was chosen to reflect this expansive, deep connection. It signifies not just one wave or one shore, but the entire, timeless spirit of the sea.
Rasmine Clifton shared:
“When that massive whale surfaced right next to the boat, I felt an ancient power and peace. In that moment, I knew its soul had to be woven into our garments.”

The idea was sparked when founder Rasmine Clifton, late one night while browsing online, stumbled upon an archive of complex and haunting whale songs. Even filtered through her headphones, Rasmine felt the power and the isolation in those sounds—as if they were an ancient language and an urgent plea.
The inspiration for Orator came from a deep desire to turn clothing into a conduit, an ‘Orator’ for creatures that cannot speak for themselves. The vibrant, Retro/Neon-style Whale graphics symbolize the critical importance of these majestic beings and serve as a visual call to action for ocean health.
Orator blends Surfintee’s core surf style with a mission of environmental advocacy, urging people to carry the ocean’s message out of the digital space and into their daily lives.
